Also, I am a little confused because the game and the book give different vibes. There are still other GR games I have not played. However, I can't give this game too much credit. Nonetheless, I experienced more than anything Breakpoint and Wildlands provided. I would not have gained as much if I did not play on Elite. Here are a few I can remember:Ģ.) Enemies aggroing onto you after spawning in a previous areaģ.) Enemies holding angles and one tapping you like its CS: GOĪs you can see, I have learned a lot from only two missions. It is most likely due to the limitations of the old game engine. My dislikes are more like small annoyances I encountered. It's a little hard to explain but, I think you know what I'm trying to say.

Switching from teammate to teammate and seeing them being able to die quickly made me imagine we were experiencing the same thing. With that said, the "soul-swapping" feature and the one-tap deaths played a part as well. That mentality made me feel like a member of a squad. You rely on them as much they "depend" on you. What exactly immersed me into the game? It was my AI teammates. The reason being is because of the simplicity and pixelated graphics. I did not think it was going to happen for such an old game. Playing on Elite gave me an immersive experience. I loved the planning, rethinking, understanding my mistakes, and the occasional surprises. Although restarting over and over was annoying, I was still having a good time. I needed to do all that I listed above and multiply it by 10 (there are more things I learned, but I won't get into that). In that way, you learn from mistakes and don't have to worry much about surprises.Ħ.) Enemies will spawn in areas behind you after completing an objective.Īfter finishing, I thought I knew all I needed to do the rest of the missions. In my five attempts to complete it, I learned a bit about the gameplay.ġ.) Your teammates and how well you can keep them alive will help a lot.Ģ.) Everyone dies in 1 - 2 shots, even yourself.ģ.) No mini-map/marking enemies means taking your time, peeking, and finding angles is crucial.Ĥ.) Saving during missions means not having to start all over again.ĥ.) If you do have to restart to the beginning, bad guys will spawn in the same place. The first mission was honestly not that bad. I immediately backed out to the menu and thought, "Screw it. Enemies were quickly disposed of by my teammates. After running into the first set of bad guys, I knew that Recruit was too easy for me. I also needed to adjust to the low-quality graphics. After all, I still did not know what to expect. My first run at the campaign was on Recruit difficulty because learning what the keyboard buttons and mouse do is not enough. Therefore, I quickly picked up the controls. Follow the path, stop when you want to learn something, and listen to the lady speaking. Here are the things I like and dislike about the game right now:Īfter getting to the menu, I went straight to the training to get a feel of everything. So far, I have managed to finish the first two missions on Elite difficulty.

However, I wanted the full GR experience. Before starting the campaign, I did not know what to expect.
